Personality:

First off, Yume is kind of an airhead with a tendency to space out randomly, and that's before you even get to her odd and uncontrollable sleeping habits. It's not that she's dumb, it's just that she doesn't quite get a lot of things. She's innocent, despite some of the dark and terrifying things she's seen. And of course, the crude jokes that her some of her friends and acquaintances make around her. She's a bright light in a somewhat dreary world.

Because she can't reliably control her ability to induce sleep, Yume is usually worrying when next she'll accidentally put everyone around her to sleep, and focuses on trying not to do so. Who knows if it might happen when someone's driving, or in the middle of something potentially dangerous? She sees herself as a liability. Even so, she likes the other half of her powers: the ability to experience and interact with the dreams of others. It's so interesting, and there's so much to explore in the world of dreams...although there have been some dark things she's seen that she wishes she could unsee. Nightmarish things that should never see the light of day.

Yume can be completely oblivious to subtle things, such as most flirting and many jokes. Unless you explain it to her or make it completely obvious what you mean, she's likely just going to laugh along with whatever or its just going to go right over her head.

While Yume does her best to be cheery and helpful, she's not the most graceful person in the world. Okay, that's putting it mildly. She's pretty clumsy, and despite her best attempts to be careful and do something right, she usually ends up messing things up in one way or another by accident. She really does mean well, though!


History:

While her early childhood was relatively normal, that changed shortly after Yume's seventh birthday. That's about the time she began witnessing dreams that weren't her own, and just a few months later, she accidentally put her entire class to sleep. This wasn't something entirely unusual, as people across the globe had been developing and showing signs of supernatural abilities for the past two decades or so.

Unsure of what to do at first, a man from a group for training these 'gifted' individuals approached Yume's parents and they agreed to send her to America to both finish schooling and learn to try and control her ability. She felt she didn't fit in at first, but after realizing that 'hey, these people are kind of like me', Yume began to feel a bit more comfortable in her new environment.

Yume's life continued to be more or less ordinary, although of course mixed with the odd and unusual twists of her friends' and her own unique powers. It wasn't until she was 12 that she began experiencing vivid nightmares, visions of horrifying creatures of the dark from somewhere else in the world. Despite not being in control of her powers, Yume was offered the chance to join the 'Vigilante' group, although she declined, believing she'd do more harm than good to her allies.

Instead, she chose to continue her bizarre, but fun school life, where she befriended a girl named Bree (who could blank out herself from other people's senses!), and Emil (a boy who could link his mind to cyberspace and was an excellent hacker). While they didn't really form a club or anything, they spent most of their time not in class with eachother. Even if a fair amount of the time, they kept falling asleep thanks to Yume. Their teachers affectionately designated them the 'Napping Club'.



Abilities:

Yume has the ability to induce sleep in all individuals within a twenty foot radius from and including herself, although she has little control on when it happens. The most she can do is take caffeine pills in the hopes that maybe if she's wired, that her mind won't think any sleepy thoughts. That's her plan, anyway. The sleep caused by this is instant. No drowsiness to begin or anything, just lights out and snoring immediately as everyone is plunged into a comfortable REM sleep.

However, that's only part of her abilities. She can also 'dreamwalk' as she calls it. Yume can enter and interact with the dreams of others, although she has little control of what dreams she enters. Typically, it's those she's physically closest to, but then again, she's experienced the vivid dreams of what she thinks are probably cultists of some nightmarish dark creature too. While this ability is pretty much harmless, she can probably influence others slightly. Ever seen Inception?



Body and Appearance

Yume stands at about 5'1", and is fairly average in build.

Sixteen.

Surprisingly, she carries herself fairly well until she falls asleep.

4. How is her health? Is she fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?

Her health is fairly good, no illnesses to speak of, although some have thought her ability to be a form of Narcolepsy.

5. How does she move? Is she clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?

...ha. She's incredibly clumsy, always tripping or bumping into things.

6. How attractive is this character physically? How does she perceive herself in the mirror?

Yume's definitely cute, but perhaps a little on the plain side. She's not particularly curvy or anything. She thinks she's about average.

7. Describe her complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

Light.

8. Describe her hair: color, texture, style.

Her hair is about chin-length, and reddish-brown in color.

9. What color are her eyes?

Hazel.

10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?

Not particularly.

Her shoulders/neck.

12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does she have six of the same suit?

Yume typically dresses pretty casual. T-shirts and blouses, although the occasional hoodie will make an appearance too. She likes lighter colors for the most part.

13. Do her clothes fit well? Does she seem comfortable in them?

Yup.

14. Does she dress the same on the job as she does in her free time? If not, what are the differences?

She doesn't have a job!

Yume's voice actress would be Cassandra Lee Morris. (Kyubey from PMMM, Morgana from P5)

She talks pretty fast and easily. Easily excitable thing.

3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?

No.

4. What language/s does she speak, and with how much fluency?

Japanese and English, fluent in both.

5. Does she switch languages or dialects in certain situations?

Only when she calls her parents, really.

She can ad-lib if need be most of the time. If she has to plan out something in advance, she'll probably botch it horribly.

Mostly a happy medium here.

Again, she's got a fair mix of both, although a lot of it doesn't really stick.

She tries both.

Intuitive and idealistic.

She's on her 2nd year of high school.

Napping, goofing off, and tripping over things. Honestly though, she's not sure what she wants to do in the future.

Extrovert, mostly.

Yume's pretty cheerful most of the time! She acts like she's driven and gets all excitable about fun-sounding ideas, but she's actually fairly laid-back.

This depends on the situation, but as long as it isn't obviously dangerous, a mix of curiosity and excitement.

Probably act.

It takes Yume forever to get most jokes, as they typically go way over her head.

No.

The discovery of her abilities, seeing nightmare creatures, meeting Bree and Emil.

Getting her friends hurt, nightmarish monsters.

While her parents originally thought she was a freak after the discovery of her powers, they're still in contact and actually support her.

Only child.

Nope.

She sort of considers her friends as a sort of family.

Brianne Fisher, aka Bree is her BFF. They're both students who're learning to control their wonky supernatural powers.

The other is Emil, a cyberkinetic.

She's not too hard to get along with, really.

Both are equally as important!

Single.

Her first and latest crush is Emil.

Someone cool, smart, and handsome! Yeah, her ideals are kind of childish.

Yume really hopes not.

A 1. She's really only interested in men, but could be persuaded by a woman.

Yume...is a virgin. So she doesn't really have any opinions on it yet, except that the subject is embarrassing.

None as of yet. Does drooling in her sleep count as a weird bedroom habit?

Her birthday is June 3rd, which makes her a Cancer. It's relatively fitting.

Neither, really.

Yume's one of those more or less goody-two-shoes people. While she wouldn't ever willingly do something she knows is wrong, she could likely be tricked into it.

It depends on the belief, but as long as it isn't something evil or horrible, she'd be pretty tolerant of it.

None, really.



Daily Life

Yume receives a monthly stipend from the school to spend on necessities and whatever else. It's not a ton of money, but it's enough for her to get by.

She's relatively well known in her school. Mostly for her clumsiness. Some refer to her as a hurricane on legs.

3. Where does she live? House, apartment, trailer? Is her home her castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does she share it with others?

Student dorms! They're modern, spacious enough for two, but she has one to herself. She spends a fair amount of time there, reading and sleeping.

4. Besides the basic necessities, what does she spend her money on?

Cute clothes! And books. Lots of books.

5. What does she do for a living? Is she good at it? Does she enjoy it, or would she rather be doing something else?

Yume's still a student! She's eh, kind of mediocre, but she needs to graduate.

Reading and hanging out with her small, but awesome group of friends.

7. What are her eating habits? Does she skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?

She's a minor, so no alcohol. She eats fairly well, but can't stand onions or garlic.
